Brentwood Education & Careers Fair

Employers, Work-Based Learning Providers, Trainers, Colleges and Universities will provide access to a wide variety of expertise and a thrilling opportunity for students to plan for their future in the world of work.

The Brentwood Learning Partnership, which consists of the six Secondary Schools in Brentwood, works to provide the highest possible quality of education and to expand the range of courses and careers pathways for learners in and around the town.

The group has arranged for over 60 exhibitors and organisations to contribute information, advice and guidance at the fourth Brentwood Learning Partnership Education and Careers Fair. This will be held at the Brentwood Centre on Friday 8th February 2013 for young people aged from 14-19 living in the local area.

Employers, Work-Based Learning Providers, Trainers, Colleges and Universities will provide access to a wide variety of expertise and a thrilling opportunity for students to plan for their future in the world of work. They will be able to talk to a wide range of exhibitors, from manufacturing, retail, construction, health, public services and care, sports leisure and recreation, to name just a few.

This event has now become a regular feature on the annual calendar for the Brentwood Learning Partnership. A local teacher says “The Careers Fair is a brilliant way to open up the young students’ eyes about the endless opportunities that are available for them. This event will allow them decide what future pathway they would like to take.”

In the morning of the Fair, a Primary School Careers Experience will take place. This part of the event engages around 250 Year 6 pupils in practical activities which are designed to give an insight into the world of work. They will operate alongside Chelsea Football Club, Barclays Bank, E2V and local colleges to develop the soft skills of employment such as time-management, presentation, team work and responsibility in different employment sectors such as Sport, Animal Care, The Environment, Finance, Health & Social Care and Engineering. Above all, the youngsters have fun whilst gaining an understanding that working hard in school can open many doors for them in the future.
