| BRENTWOOD CENTRE COACH CORE APPRENTICES MEET PRINCE HARRY |
Our three new apprentices have started their contracts with Brentwood Leisure Trust, in partnership with Active Essex and The Royal Foundation.
Harrison, Jake and Mikaela spent some time this morning (10th October) on our local community radio station Phoenix FM with presenter Michelle Ward talking about the Coach Core programme. They spoke about their great day during the week at Hadleigh Park team-building day with other Essex apprentices on the Coach Core programme which included Mountain Biking and Kayaking. Last Friday (7th October) the team met Prince Harry at Lords Cricket Ground with centre manager Nicky Smith and Core Coach apprentices from across the country. The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry was established by the Princes in September 2009. In July 2012 the Royal Foundation launched Coach Core; A new, innovative and exciting sports coaching apprenticeship targetting young people who wish to gain further education and employment in sport. The Royal Foundation is working in partnership with Active Essex, the county sports partnership for Essex, who will manage the “Team Essex” Coach Core programme. Brentwood Leisure Trust has agreed to offer Gym, Swim, Multi-Sport and Inclusive Sport and Fitness, both through training and work experience. 
The new apprentices were delighted to meet Prince Harry.
Apprentice Harrison Barrett said: "It was great to be at Lord's as part of the Coach Core programme and to meet Prince Harry. He was very down to earth and was there to have a bit of fun." Jake Watson: "The most exciting part will be working with the staff and the people who take part. I think it will be amazing learning about all the different spots the Brentwood Centre offers. I might take up some new sports myself. Mikaela Kennedy: "I currently participate in gymnastics and have worked as a volunteer for the past 5 years at Havering Gymnastics club.
