All of which, operate within a friendly, safe and stigma free environment; with peer support and professional coaches with mental health first aid training.
Having launched in January 2016 Fitness in Mind is now in its third year and has successfully supported hundreds of people, of all ages and abilities, to establish a regular fitness routine and greater social and mental wellbeing. Fitness in Mind is a fully inclusive programme so whether it’s stress or anxiety, a physical or learning disability, or a diagnosed mental health condition, they are there to help. The programme is for anyone age 16 and upwards, although 13 years and upwards can attend with a guardian.
Here’s just a few comments from some of those on the last programme;
“Before joining Fitness in Mind, I was not active; I felt depressed and lonely. I noticed my mood and wellbeing change as I progressed through the programme; I felt uplifted and looked forward to the session” Female, 38, Shenfield.
“I was pretty active but felt anxious. However, coming together with likeminded people helped, and it got me through a difficult time in my life. The programme is an excellent way of getting people with real life issues together which can change their outlook on life and help lift moods” Male, 49, Brentwood.
“I was struggling with being active due to ill health. I felt very fragile due to an emotional break down and was suffering from extreme anxiety. As I progressed through the programme, my confidence grew, and my overall fitness and emotional wellbeing improved dramatically” Female, 67, Doddinghurst.
